Transmission Damage

Ike update: 215 of the 238 affected transmission lines and 361 of the 383 affected substations have been restored.

Gustav update: 233 of the 241 affected transmission lines and 348 of the 354 affected substations have been restored.

Distribution system damage caused by Hurricane Ike to Entergy’s system includes approximately 10,300 poles and 2,900 transformers damaged or destroyed.

Entergy Texas continues restoring electrical service to customers affected by Hurricane Ike. At 11 a.m., the outage report shows that 383,826, or 98 percent, of the Texas customers affected by Hurricane Ike now have power, with 8,774 still in need of electricity.

An estimated 7,300 customers in southeast Texas received substantial structural and/or flood damage as a result of the storm that will require significant reconstruction and may not be able to take power for some time. This is down from the original estimate of just over 8,200.

In the company’s more western areas, all customers who can take power have been restored. In the east, where storm surge devastated some coastal areas, all who can take power should be restored by Friday, Sept. 26.

Entergy’s workforce currently numbers about 6,400, with Entergy releasing workers to be available to other utilities affected by Hurricane Ike. Further changes in Entergy’s workforce will occur as restoration continues.

Ike restoration update for Texas:

As the restoration nears completion, 7,300 customers are unable to receive power due to inaccessible, damaged or destroyed service locations. We will be working closely with these customers to determine when power can be restored.
