DAYTON CAPACITOR BANK

Entergy Transmission employees Edwin L. Mack and Duyshant Shah, residents of Conroe and the Woodlands, respectively, perform final inspection of the new capacitor bank located at Entergy's Dayton substation in southwestern Liberty County. The unit went into service on April 22. A capacitor bank is an array of capacitors connected into an electrical circuit. They control voltages supplied to our customers by eliminating voltage drops in the system caused by inductive reactive loads.

This unit is one of several elements in Entergy's Western Region Phase II transmission expansion plan. This project, along with others, will provide Entergy's customers Texas, with more stable, robust bulk power delivery through Entergy's Transmission lines.

The series capacitor bank at Dayton is the second such unit installed within Entergy Texas's service territory. This unit, along with the Static Var Compensator that has been installed and is now operational at Porter, will provide increased stability in the power flow Entergy delivers to its Texas customers.

Work on project began late in 2005 and will be finished on schedule with a perfect safety record.
