Sept. 12 -- Hurricane Ike Update At 4 p.m., Hurricane Ike had caused seven substations and three transmission lines to go out of service. Hurricane Ike is predicted to make landfall around Galveston in the early morning hours Saturday. The storm is expected to bring hurricane conditions to the Entergy Texas, Inc. territory. Entergy expects major damage to its facilities. Restoration following Hurricane Ike may be impacted by storm surge. The hurricane is currently predicted to create a storm surge as high as 20 feet in some areas of Southeast Texas. How quickly the surge waters recede will impact how quickly crews can go into areas to restore power. Hurricane Ike is expected to affect the Entergy Arkansas, Inc., area with the potential wind gusts up to 65 mph and possible power outages. Restoration crews are in position and ready to restore power. And though back-to-back hurricanes have strained external resources, we will work to bring in additional support if necessary. If extra help is needed and unavailable, restoration times could be extended in Arkansas.
