Hurricane Ike made landfall at Galveston, Texas, at 2:10 a.m., CDT, Sept. 13. Entergy Texas, Inc. reported a peak of 392,620 in Texas occurred at 1 p.m. today, the most in its history. Texas outages peaked at more than 392,600. Entergy Arkansas outages peaked at 179,000. Arkansas made great progress today restoring over 96,000 customers (54%). Damage in Texas is more extensive than that caused by Hurricane Rita. Restoration for Hurricane Ike may take several weeks. Transmission Transmission outages in Texas caused by Ike include 278 of 312 substations and 183 of 187 transmission lines out of service. In Louisiana, Ike caused outages for 37 lines and 51 substations of which 19 lines and 15 substations have been restored. Remaining Gustav damage to the transmission system includes 16 lines and nine substations out of service. Entergy has restored 38 of the 39 substations in Arkansas, and four of the eleven transmission lines affected by Hurricane Ike.
